Elate Orthodontics founder discusses how closer-to-reality iOrtho plans are shortening clear aligner cases.
Angel Aligner USA featured Dr. Kevin Baharvand, DMD, MS, founder of Elate Orthodontics, in a video on its national Instagram channel this month. The subject was treatment planning, and specifically how much closer Angel’s iOrtho plans have gotten to what actually happens once the aligners are in a patient’s mouth.
The distance between the digital plan and the real result is something most patients never think about. It is also one of the main reasons clear aligner cases run long.

He is deliberate about how he frames the speed part.
“Faster isn’t really the goal by itself. It’s what happens when teeth move the way the plan said they would. You’re not spending three appointments correcting something, you’re not ordering another round of refinements, and the case finishes when it was supposed to finish. Patients experience that as faster. On our end, we mostly just stopped losing time.”
For patients, the difference shows up in small ways. Fewer surprise refinements. Fewer appointments that exist only to fix a movement that did not happen. A finish date that holds.
Elate Orthodontics treats one of the highest volumes of Angel Aligner cases in Texas, and Dr. Baharvand trains other orthodontists on the system as a national speaker on clear aligner treatment. That clinical volume is part of why Angel asked him to speak on planning accuracy rather than on the product in general.
He does not present aligners as the answer to everything.
“I still tell people that not every case is an aligner case. Some kids are better off in braces and I’ll say so. But the cases that are appropriate for aligners are going through cleaner than they were a few years ago, and the planning software is a big part of that.”
