Why we publish every case we can

A before-and-after photo is the closest thing to evidence you can look at before choosing an orthodontist. But a handful of photos doesn't tell you much. Any practice can find five good finishes.

What a library shows is range. Open bites closed with aligners. Underbites caught early in kids. Crowded lower teeth photographed from directly above, where nothing hides. If you can find a case that looks like yours, you can see how it was treated and how it finished, before you ever sit in the chair.

It's also a reason to have an orthodontist do your orthodontics. General dentists and pediatric dentists can offer braces and aligners, but an orthodontist finishes dental school and then spends two to three more years in a full-time residency that's only about moving teeth and guiding jaw growth. That training shows up where it's hardest to fake: the bite. Every case here was planned and finished by orthodontists, and the photos are there so you can judge the work yourself.

What to look at in a before and after

The bite, not just the smile

Straight front teeth on a bite that doesn't fit isn't a finished case. Side views show whether the upper teeth sit properly over the lowers.

The lower arch

The view looking down on the lower teeth is the honest one for crowding. It's also where teeth drift first if retainers stop getting worn.

Cases like yours

A 9 year old with a crossbite and an adult with a skeletal underbite are different problems. Use the age filter to compare like with like.

One person's result

Every result depends on the bite, growth and how consistently elastics, aligners and retainers get worn. These cases show what's realistic. They aren't a promise.

How we counted

On October 12, 2026 we checked the websites of the 22 orthodontic practices closest to our three offices, taken from Google Maps results around Frisco, Prosper, The Colony and Little Elm. General dentists and pediatric dental offices weren't included.

We counted patients, not pictures. A case shown from three angles counts once. 19 sites could be counted with confidence, and the others couldn't be verified, so they're left out. Among the 19, the median was 5 cases, the largest gallery showed 16, and 8 showed none, pointing visitors to Instagram instead.

Photos posted only on social media weren't counted for anyone, including us. Our own number at the top of this page comes straight from the library and changes every time a case is published. Other practices' galleries change too, which is why the comparison carries a date.

Questions about these cases

Are these real Elate patients?

Yes. Every case in this library was treated at one of our three offices by Dr. Baharvand, Dr. Kang or both, and is published with the patient's permission, or a parent's for minors.

Will my result look like this?

Not exactly, and anyone who promises that is guessing. Your result depends on your bite, your growth if you're still growing, and how consistently elastics, aligners and retainers get worn. What these cases do show is what's realistic for a problem like yours. At a free consultation we take records and tell you what we'd expect for your bite specifically.

Why don't you list how long each case took?

Because it varies more than people expect, and a number printed next to a photo reads like a promise. Treatment time depends on the bite, on growth and on wear. You get an estimate for your own case once we've seen your records.

Can clear aligners fix an open bite, crossbite or underbite?

Often, yes. Search "open bite aligners" or "crossbite aligners" above to see the ones we've published. Some bites still move more predictably with braces, and a skeletal underbite in an adult may need surgery. That decision gets made from X-rays, not photos.

Do you treat adults?

Yes. Use the Adults filter to see adult cases only. Adults are treated with braces, clear braces or clear aligners.
