A narrow upper jaw shows up as crowding, a crossbite in the back teeth, or a smile with dark corners at the sides.
In kids, the seam in the middle of the palate hasn't fused yet, so an expander can widen the upper jaw itself rather than just tipping the teeth outward. That window closes with growth. For adults, the approach is arch development with braces or aligners.
