For Immediate Release · 2026 Patient Experience
FRISCO, TEXAS. Elate Orthodontics, the family owned orthodontic practice with three offices, two in Frisco and one in The Colony, has averaged 4.4 minutes from check-in to chair this year. That figure covers every visit since January at the West Frisco, North Frisco and The Colony offices, more than 6,500 in all.
We’re proud of that one. Not because it’s a flashy number, but because it’s hard to fake. You can’t hit it by having a good week. It only happens when the whole schedule is built right, every day, at all three offices.
“When a patient checks in, we want them seen right away. Their time matters to us, so we’re very intentional about how we schedule our patients and how we schedule our doctors.
Dr. Kevin Baharvand, DMD, MS · Co-Founder, Elate Orthodontics
Why We Pay Attention to the Waiting Room
A lot of our patients are students. Their appointment is squeezed between the last bell and soccer practice, and a parent either left work early or is about to be late for something else. Twenty minutes in a waiting room isn’t a small thing for that family. It’s the whole margin in their afternoon.
So we treat their time the way we’d want ours treated. When you check in, we want you seated right away. Not “we’ll be with you shortly.” Right away.
How the Schedule Gets Us There
There’s no trick to it. It’s mostly being deliberate about two things.
The first is how long each visit is booked for. A quick wire check on braces and a progress visit for Angel Aligners don’t need the same amount of time, and a new patient exam needs more than either. If every appointment gets the same generic slot, some run long, some leave a chair empty, and the waiting room absorbs the difference.
The second is the doctors’ time. Dr. Kang and I are scheduled as carefully as the patients are. If the schedule assumes a doctor can be in three places at once, it doesn’t matter how well the chairs are booked. Somebody waits.
I’ll be honest about the limits of an average, too. Some days a bracket breaks right before a full afternoon, or a consultation turns into a longer conversation because a parent has good questions. Those days happen. 4.4 minutes is what it looks like across all of them, not just the easy ones.
Why We Ask You to Be on Time
This is the part people sometimes read as us being strict. It’s really the other side of the same promise.
A schedule that seats people in under five minutes doesn’t have much padding built into it. That’s the point. So when one appointment starts 12 minutes late, those 12 minutes don’t disappear. They get handed to the next patient, and the one after that, all the way to the end of the day.
Late afternoons are where this matters most. Those after-school appointments are the ones everybody wants, so they’re the fullest, and there’s no lunch break coming up to catch back up. A 3:00 start that slips turns into a 4:40 family waiting, and that family did everything right.
So we’re particular about it. Not to be difficult, but because being on time for you means being on time for everyone.
What Helps Us Keep It This Way
Your appointment time is when we plan to seat you. A couple of minutes early is plenty.
Call (972) 538-4343 as early as you can. Sometimes we can still fit you in. Sometimes the fairest thing is a new time.
A loose bracket or lost aligner can need a longer visit. Telling us ahead lets us book the right amount of time.
More than 6,500 times this year, a family walked in and was seated in a few minutes. We’d like to keep that going through December and into 2027.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long will I wait at Elate Orthodontics?
In 2026, the average time from check-in to being seated has been 4.4 minutes across more than 6,500 appointments at the West Frisco, North Frisco and The Colony offices.
What happens if I’m late to my orthodontic appointment?
Call the office as soon as you know. Depending on the day, we may still be able to see you, or we may move you to a new time so patients scheduled after you aren’t kept waiting.
Why are after-school appointments harder to move?
They’re the most requested times, so they’re booked full. With no open slots later in the day, any delay carries straight through to the last patient.
